A tournament roundup for the three-day Class A event saw Seneca top number one and favored Ford Central 54-49 in the opening game. Hume Shiloh slipped by Dakota 49-48 in the other afternoon game Thursday.
Carthage got past Greenville 54-44 and the Lady Foxes topped Luther North 52-46. In the semi-finals Friday night, Seneca defeated Hume Shiloh 60-46 while Carthage tipped the Lady Foxes 47-39.
McLeansboro won the third place game 59-38 while Seneca got Carthage 54-47 for the Class A championship. Seneca ended the season unbeaten at 30-0 followed by Carthage, 29-1; McLeansboro, 28-3; Shiloh, 28-3; Luther North, 27-2; Greenville, 25-5; Dakota, 23-6; and Ford Central, 28-1.
The leading scorer for the tournament was Cindy Kaufman of Seneca with 86 points for a 28.7 average. Lori Kirsch of the Foxes was second with 62 points and a 20.7 average. Diane Ellefritz of Carthage, Courtney Porter of Shiloh and Janet Jenkins of Seneca rounded out the top five.
Sandy File of Greenville had a 28 point first game, but fell out of the running when her team dropped their opener.
