1.County orgranized February 8, 1821
2.County named for Alexander Hamilton, first Secretary of the
U. S. Treasury
3.County Seat surveyed and plotted by Thomas Sloo, Jr. in 1821. First spelled McLeansborough.
4.First building in the new town, a log Commissioners Court building located on the northeast corner of the Courtyard - 1821.
5.Goshen Road, 1808 - from Goshen to Shawneetown.
6.Old State Road - about 1821, from Shawneetown to Vandalia the State Capital.
7.Southern section of the Lincoln Heritage Trail begins at McLeansboro.
8.Unusual architectural design, the Octagonal House (burned in 1973) in Flannigan Township, built about 1871-1873.
