Carol A. Shasteen, 58, of McLeansboro, died at 7:03 a.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 1996, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado. She was a homemaker.
She was born on September 26, 1938, in Oak Park, Illinois, a daughter of Fred and Bernice (Weiher) Myrtle. On June 8, 1956, she married Cecil Shasteen in Cook County. She was a member of Temple Missionary Baptist Church in McLeansboro.
The graveside service was 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 29, 1996, at Smith Cemetery near Dale. Revs. Carl Leek and Robert Sefried officiated. Arrangements were by Harre Funeral Home.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Johnnie Shasteen of Cuba, Missouri, David Shasteen of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Darrell Shasteen of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Beverly Riley and husband Don of St. James, Missouri; four grandchildren, Keith, at home, and Andrea, Chip and Bonnie Riley of St. James; and one brother, James Myrtle of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
