Hilary E. Chelf of Longview, Texas, died at the Whispering Pines Lodge on November 7, 1996. He was born and attended grade and high school in McLeansboro. Before leaving McLeansboro he was employed at Elders Mfg. Company and McLeansboro Creamery. He spent 31 years in management at Caterpillar Inc., from where he retired to Texas. He battled cancer for over eight years and was laid to rest in Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Longview. He is survived by his wife Opal.
