Harry G. Benbrook

Harry G. Benbrook, 90, of New Harbor, Maine., and formerly of McLeansboro, died at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 1996, in a Damariscotta, Maine, health care facility.

Mr. Benbrook was born on January 8, 1906, in McLeansboro, a son of Hosea and Louisa (Lee) Benbrook. He graduated from McLeansboro High School in 1928(?) and for many years was a self-employed contractor. In 1921(?), he moved to Massachusetts, where he was employed as a construction inspector and superintendent for 1st Naval District of Maine, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island, retiring in 1970. He was a longtime member of the Orphan's Hope Lodge of Masons in Weymouth, Maine, and loved fishing and gardening. He was also known for his musical talent with singing and playing the guitar. He came to New Harbor in 1981.

Graveside funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 1996, at the Antioch Cemetery in McLeansboro. Rev. John Lee officiated. Local arrangements were made through Harre Funeral Home.

Mr. Benbrook is survived by one daughter, Judith Barufaldi of New Harbor; two granddaughters, Nina and Jill Barufaldi of New Harbor; one grandson, Paul Barufaldi of Tremont, Maine; and many nieces and nephews, including Hazel Clark of McLeansboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 53 years Verna (Sues) Benbrook, two brothers and five sisters.
