John M. Flannigan
Born March 21, 1922 - Died November 9, 1996


John M. Flannigan, 74, of McLeansboro, died at 11:13 p.m. on Saturday, November 9th, 1996, at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia. He was a pipefitter for Kaiser Steel in Napa, California.

Mr. Flannigan was born on March 21, 1922, in Blairsville, a son of Carl and Mary (Leathers) Flannigan. He married Opal Ratliff on September 2, 1967. Mr. Flannigan was a corporal in the U. S. Army and served in World War II. He was a member of the McLeansboro American Legion Post 106 and the Carmi VFW Post 3851. He was a member of the First Christian Church of McLeansboro.

The funeral was at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 1996, at the Harre Funeral Home. Burial was in IOOF Cemetery in McLeansboro. Graveside burial rites were performed by the McLeansboro American Legion Post 106 Honor Guard.

Mr. Flannigan is survived by his wife, Opal Flannigan of McLeansboro; four daughters, Myrna Jean Borges of Napa, California, Gail Williams of McAllister, Oklahoma, Connie Jones of McAllister, Oklahoma, and Janey Celley of Corvilla, Oregon; one brother Gene Flannigan of McLeansboro; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
