Alice P. Jordan, 79, of McLeansboro, died at 5:18 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 1997, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital. She was a retired inspector for Elder Manufacturing Company in McLeansboro.
She was born on December 19, 1917, in Hamilton County, a daughter of James M. and Bessie (Prince) Pierce. On July 4, 1934, she married Carl H. Jordan, who died in 1967. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of McLeansboro.
The funeral was at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 13, 1997, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. J. Kent Hickerson officiated. Burial was in Glenview Garden of Memory Cemetery near McLeansboro.
Mrs. Jordan is survived by one son, Richard "Dick" Jordan and wife Jordan and wife Alice of Fairfield; four sisters, Helen Ryan and Mary Yoder, both of McLeansboro, Edith Newton of Evansville, Indiana, Laurel Ewing of Fairfield; four grandchildren, Cindy Fenton of Carterville, Wendy Smith of Marion, Kent Jordan of St. Louis, Kyle Jordan of Fairfield; and one great-grandchild, Leevi Jordan of Fairfield.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
