Carl Erwin, 56, of McLeansboro, died at 12:55 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 1997, at Welborn HOspital in Evansville, Indiana. He was a retired oil field worker.
He was born on December 12, 1940, in Woodstock, Illinois, a son of James Riley and Fern L. (Klinker) Erwin. On November 28, 1962, he married Virginia A. Hutcheson, who survives. He was a member of Middle Creek Baptist Church.
The funeral was at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 1997, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. Garlin Burris and Bro. Robert Anderson officiated. Burial was in Digby Hill Cemetery near Dale.
Mr. Erwin is survived by his wife Virginia A. Erwin; his mother, Fern L. Erwin of McLeansboro; one son, Dewayne Erwin and Wife Deanna of Wayne City; one daughter Carly Anderson and husband Robert of Dale; two brothers, Ralph Erwin of Dahlgren and Paul Erwin of McLeansboro; one sister, Sandra McBride of Mt. Vernon; and two grandchildren Bethaney Erwin and Cory Nathan Anderson.
