Clarence Orndolph Odell, 81, of McLeansboro, died at 11:20 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 1997, at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mt. Vernon. He was a retired chief inspector for Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Company.
He was born on December 1, 1915 in White County, a son of John Altie and Anna Lucile (Tice) Odell. He married Ruth Bernadine Cocke, who died in 1963. Later he married Alta Marie O'Neal, who survives. He was a member of Pleasant Union Cngregational Christian Church, a U. S. Navy veteran of WWII, a member of VFW Lodge in Emporia, Kansas, and was also a Mason.
The funeral was at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 1997 at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Revs. J. L. McGarety and Brian Mixon officiated. Burial was in Blooming Grove Cemetery near McLeansboro.
Besides his wife, Mr. Odell is survived by two sons, Cloyd Odell and wife Sharon of Calimesa, California, Clarence Eugene Odell and wife Relda of Opdyke; two daughters, Edna Geraldine Boone and husband Gale of Mt. Vernon, Mary Jo Staples of Liberal, Kansas; two brothers, Murrell Odell of Robinson, Illinois, and Hoyt Odell of Florida; a sister, Ruby Stokowski of Minonk, Illinois; eight great-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, parents, five brothers, six sisters, and two grandchildren.
