John Griffin Irvin, 84, of McLeansboro, died at 6:40 a.m. on Sunday, May 25, 1997, at his residence. He was a retired farmer.
He was born on September 7, 1912, near Broughton, a son of Cecil and Blanch (Griffin) Irvin. He was married to Hazel Virginia Lynch, who survives. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of McLeansboro, Polk Lodge 137 of McLeansboro, a Shriner of Ainad Temple-East St. Louis, past Kiwanis member, past member of the board of directors of Wayne-White Electric, board member Hamilton County Telephone Co-op.
The funeral was at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 1997, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. Jerry Parmily officiated. Burial was in Blooming Grove Cemetery in McLeansboro. Masonic rites were performed by Polk Lodge 137 A.F. & A.M. Monday at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Grayson Irvin.
