Noland J. Harrelson, 83, of McLeansboro, died at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday, July 27, 1997 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital. He was a retired truck driver for Webb Oil Company, Inc. in McLeansboro.
He was born on September 22, 1913, in Hamilton County, a son of Enos and Ivy (Denny) Harrelson. On October 22, 1935, he married Evelyn Huffstutler, who survives. He was a member and trustee of the First Baptist Church in McLeansboro. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army in WWII and received the Purple Heart during combat.
The funeral was at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 1997, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. Gary Davenport officiated. Burial was in Blooming Grove Cemetery near McLeansboro. Graveside military rites were by the American Legion Post #106.
Besides his wife, Mr. Harrelson is survived by one daughter, Alice Wooten and husband John of Bloomington, Illinois; four brothers, Enos Harrelson Jr. of Bull Shoals, Illinois, Ernest Harrelson of Romeoville, Illinois, Kenneth Harrelson of Robinson, Illinois, and Robert Harrelson of McLeansboro; two sisters, Lucille Parker of Fairfield and Alice Page of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, three grandchildren, Kathy Stoller of Eureka, Illinois, Christina Tribbett of San Jose, Illinois, and Jeff Wooten of Rantoul, Illinois; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in McLeansboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
