Nora Rachel Heil, 83, of Cobden, Illinois and formerly of McLeansboro, died on Wednesday, June 4, 1997, at the City Care Nursing Home in Cobden, Illinois. She was a homemaker.
She was born on March 16, 1914, in Hamilton County, a daughter of Andrew Jackson Bond and Ada Mearl (Neal) Bond. On August 31, 1931, she married Noel Heil, who died on March 6, 1979. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in McLeansboro, was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Rebekah Lodge #687 of McLeansboro and was a volunteer at Hamilton Memorial Hospital.
The funeral was at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 7, 1997, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. Jerry Parmley officiated. Burial was in Springer Cemetery near McLeansboro.
Mrs. Heil is survived by two daughters, Libbye M. Hanks of Overland, Missouri, and Nada M. Lipe and husband James of Richardson, Texas; two sons, N. Clifford Heil and wife Margret of Cobden and Frank J. Heil and wife Kay of Jeffersonville, Indiana; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Pearl Haynes of Fairfield.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, grand-daughter, two brothers and one sister.
