William Henry "Bill" Davis, 75, of McLeansboro, died at 3:35 a.m. on Thursday, November 6, 1997, at his residence. He was a retired driver for Universal utane and Laborers Union #1197 of McLeansboro.
He was born on November 22, 1921, in Hamilton county, a son of Albert and Daisy (O'Bryan) Davis. On December 23, 1941, he married hettie Lucille (Taylor), who survives. He was a member of the First Christian Church in McLeansboro, a member of Polk Lodge #137 of McLeansboro and Laborers Union #1197 of McLeansboro. Mr. Davis was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
The funeral was at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 9, 1997, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. Rob Robbins officiated. Burial was in Oddfellows Cemetery in McLeansboro. Masonic rites were performed by Polk Lodge #137 of McLeansboro at 7:00 p.m. on November 8.
Besides his wife, Mr. Davis is survived by two daughters, Brenda Tripp and husband John of Christopher, Linda Robbins and husband Jim of Sesser; two brothers, Wilburn Davis of St. Charles, Missouri, Dr. Bryan Davis of Conroe, Texas; three sisters, Freda Kone of Mt. Vernon, Alice Deen of Broughton and Sue Cottingham of St. Louis; six grandchildren, Kim Kail, Mark Reichow, Rob Robbins, Scott Robbins, Chantyl Wilson and Cory Robbins; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
