Alma Birchler, 85, of McLeansboro, died at 6:45 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998, at her residence. She was a beautician at Town and Country Beauty Shop in McLeansboro.
She was born on April 12, 1912 in McLeansboro, a daughter of Fred and Ethel (Lawson) Morris. She attended Hopewell Baptist Church in McLeansboro and was a member of Eastern Star Chapter #702 of McLeansboro.
The funeral was at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 26, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. Robert Sefried officiated. Burial was in Oddfellows Cemetery in McLeansboro.
Mrs. Birchler is survived by one son, Robert L. Pitts and wife Shirley of McLeansboro; one brother, George Morris and wife Pauline of McLeansboro; two sisters, Inez Stull of McLeansboro and Freida Davis of Collinsville, Ill.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Guy Phillips (married in 1944 and passed away in 1976); husband Cletus Birchler (married in 1982 and passed away in 1986); one brother, Jasper Morris; and one sister, Mary Jones.
