Betty L. Campbell, 70, of McLeansboro, died at 12:53 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, 1998, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville, Ind. She worked many years at the former Elder Manufacturing Company in McLeansboro and retired from the Dietary Department at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.
She was born on Sept. 28, 1927, in Hamilton County, a daughter of William and Hazel (Ray) Morton. She was a member of Brush Harbor Baptist Church and also attended First General Baptist Church in McLeansboro.
The funeral was at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 4, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. Ken Cook and Rev. Billie Duncan officiated. Burial was in Brush Harbor Cemetery in McLeansboro.
Mrs. Campbell is survived by two daughters, Jerrine Hall and husband David of Carmi and Emma Lou Smith and husband Sherrif Oren Smith of Albion; four grandchildren, Stephanie Wilson and husband Bob and Lisa Carter and husband Kenny, both of Carmi, Pam Smith of Olney, Glenn Smith of Danville; three great-grandchildren, Sage Jerrine Wilson, Ross David Wilson and Carson Nicole Carter; and two sisters, Mrs. Shelby Hocking of Cocoa, Fla., and Shirley Cody of Marion.
She was preceded in death by her husband Uel "Son" Campbell, and her parents.
