Chloe R. Friel, 90, of Beach Park, Illinois, and formerly of McLeansboro, died at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 1998, at Victory Memorial Hospital in Waukegan, Illinois. She was a retired nurse aide at North Chicago Veterans Administration Hospital.
She was born on August 18, 1907, in Hamilton County, a daughter of Iron W. and Rittie (McGill) Russell. She married Nolan Friel, who preceded her in death. She attended New Salem Baptist Church near Dale for many years.
The funeral was at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 23, 1998, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. Rick Absher officiated. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery near McLeansboro.
Mrs. Friel is surived by one son, Russell E. Friel and wife Nancy of Seligman, Arizonia; one grandchild, Beverly Kluba and husband Lawrence of Gurnee, Illinois; two great-grandchildren, Shane Rubenacker and Stacey Rubenacker of Zion, Illinois; one brother, Claudis Russell of McLeansboro; one niece, Verna Jean Bellios and husband Nicholas of Libertyville, Illinois; one great-niece, Christine Stevenson of Waukegan; one great-nephew, Nicky Bellios of Chicago; one great-great niece, Miss Brooke Stevenson of Waukegan.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
