David Edwin Karcher

David Edwin Karcher, 75, of Dahlgren, died at 7:45 p.m. on Friday, December 18, 1998, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. He was a retired farmer.

He was born on March 21, 1923, in Hamilton County, a son of Aloysius Ambrose and Clara Amelia (Kaufman) Karcher. He was a member of St. John’s the Baptist Catholic Church, served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and a member of the McLeansboro American Legion Post #106 and McLeansboro Eagles Club.

The funeral was on Monday, December 21, 1998, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis. Father Joseph Lawler officiated. Burial was in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Piopolis. Harre Funeral Home of Dahlgren was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Karcher is survived by one brother, Cletus Karcher and wife Eu-nice of Dahlgren; two sisters, Lucille Rubenacker and Hilda Kirsch, both of Dahlgren; and one sister-in-law, Alma Karcher of Dahlgren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bill and Abbie Karcher.
