Edith M. Cook, 97, of Dixon, Illinois, and formerly of McLeansboro, died at 6:10 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, 1998, at the Clairmont Care Center. in Dixon. She was retired from E1gin State Hospital, having worked in the crafts department.
She was born on December 31, 1900, a daughter of Marion and Janie (Shaffer) Johnson. She married Charles Eugene Cook, who preceded her in death.
The funeral was at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 1998 at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. John Lee Jr. officiated. Burial was in the IOOF Cemetery in McLeansboro.
Mrs. Cook is survived by one son, Robert Cook and wife, Julia of Dixon; one daughter, Delores Champion and husband Clarence of Danville, Illinois; six grandchildren, 1 great~grandchildren; and 10 greatgreat-grandchildren.
