Flora E. Darnell, 88, of Enfield, died at 11:35 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 1998, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was a retired cook and housewife.
She was born on June 25, 1910, in Hamilton County, a daughter of Lealvie and Nettie (Bowen) Savage. She married Elvin Oldham, who preceded her in death, and later married Earl Darnell, who also preceded her in death. She was a member of Smith Chapel Baptist Church near McLeansboro.
The funeral was at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 1998, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. Robert Sefried officiated. Burial was in Enfield Cemetery in Enfield.
Mrs. Darnell is survived by one son, Gene Oldham and wife Judy of Champaign, Illinois; two daughters, Mary Ann Hickman and husband Richard of Tinley Park, Illinois, and Maxine Allen of Enfield; one step-son, Troy Darnell and wife Nancy of St. Francisville, Illinois; 10 grandchildren, Julie Oldham of New York, New York, Diane Hamlin of Lockport, Illinois, Mike Hickman of Orland Park, Illinois, Charles Hickman of Oak Forest, Illinois, Barry Flannigan of McLeansboro, Vicki Flannigan of Springerton, Patricia Pennington, Debbie Flannigan, Annette Rose and Mitzie Cheek, all of Enfield; three stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several stepgreat-grandchildren; three sisters, Lizzie Huffaker of Enfield, Faye Poore and Fern Savage, both of McLeansboro.
Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters.
