Hubert Lavern Johnson, 73, of Terre Haute, Indiana, and formerly of McLeansboro, died at 10:10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 1998 at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove, Indiana. He was a retired truck driver.
He was born May 30, 1925, in McLeansboro, a son of Hubert and Rella (Mann) Johnson. He was a member of the Second Prairie Creek Baptist Church, U. S. Army veteran of World War II, American Legion Post #104 and the VFW Post #972.
The funeral was at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 3, 1998, at DeBaun Springhill Funeral Chapel in Terre Haute. Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Terre Haute.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife Lucy Hook Johnson; one son, Dennis Wayne Johnson of Terre Haute; two daughters, Donna Long and Dianna Hlatko, both of Terre Haute; two sisters, Velma Huffstutler of McLeansboro and Reba Moyer of Springfield, Missouri nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Connie; a sister, Lucille Farris; and a brother, Lowell Johnson.
