James Bowers, 82, of Evansville and formerly or McLeansboro, died on Monday, May 11, 1998,. at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville.
He was born on September 2, 1915, in Hamilton County, a son of William and Minnie Holland Bowers. He worked in Evansville for 37 years, was a member of Westside Sportsman Club and a life member of the VFW.
The funeral and burial were held in Evansville.
He is survived by his wife Anna Lee; a daughter, Kathy Wilbur of Batesville, Indiana; five grandchildren, Bill Bowers of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, Larry Bowers of Evansville, Tina McReynolds, Shannon Price and Carol Bowers; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Bowers of McLeansboro and Joe Bowers of Macedonia; three sisters, Anna Cheshier of McLeansboro, Faye Hook and Fern Fulk of Kansas; and 25 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents his first wife, Hilda; a son, Jimmie Lee Bowers; and two brothers, Archie Lee and John Louie Bowers.
