Joe Dudley, 77, of Bethany, Illinois, and formerly of Broughton, died at 3:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 1998, at Decatur Memorial Hospital. He was a retired machinist at Catepillar.
He was born on August 18, 1920, in Broughton, a son of Oda V. and Anna (Davis) Dudley. On August 15, 1948, he married Janet Ann Gaines. He was an avid gardener and landscaper.
The funeral was at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 1998, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. Robert Sefried and Rev. Miles Clark officiated. Burial was in Hickory Hill Cemetery near Walpole. Graveside military rites were performed by American Legion Post #106 of McLeansboro.
He is survived by his wife Janet; three daughters, Debbie Dudley at home, Julie Jones of Moweaqua, Illinois, Jennifer Clark and husband Miles of Lincoln, Illinois; two sons, Todd Tudley and wife Billie of Bethany, Tim Dudley and wife Susan of Decatur; seven grandchildren, Tyler, Timothy, Emily, Nicole, Lynsey, Trevor and Hannah; a sister, Grace Reeves of Broadwell, Illinois, two brothers-in-law, Sam Gaines of McLeansboro and Jerry Ray Gaines of Hominy, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters and his grandson Timmy.
