Lily Marguerite Ewald /b>, 78, of Dahlgren, died at 11:00 p.m. on Monday, November 16, 1998, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was a housewife and farmer.
She was born on January 28, 1920, in Jefferson County, a daughter of Benjamin H. and Maggie Ann (Miller) Hutchcraft. On August 19, 1939, she married George L. Ewald, who died in 1981. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Dahlgren, St. Ann's Alter Society of Dahlgren and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post #601.
The funeral was at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, 1998, at St. John's Catholic Church in Dahlgren. The Rev. Joseph Lawler officiated. Burial was in St. John's Cemetery in Dahlgren. Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren waas in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Ewald is survived by two sons, Donald Ewald and wife Regina, Ronald Ewald and wife Rita, all of Dahlgren; one sister, Stella Ewald of Dahlgren; five grandchildren; and two stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; and eight stepgreat-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Jacquelin Joan Ewald; and one sister, Ruby Pauline Bell.
