Roland Cox, 39, of McLeansboro, died at 9:42 p.m. Friday, February 13, 1998, on Route 14 west of McLeansboro as a result of an automobile accident. He was a mill wright with Carpenters Union #626 of Mt. Vernon.
He was born on August 8, 1958, in Eldorado, a son of Clyde Roland and Janet Fay (French) Cox. On May 15, 1982, in Belle Rive, he married Michelle (Young) Cox. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and raising his fox hounds. He was also an avid fan of Winston Cup racing.
His funeral was at 10:30 a.m on Tuesday, February 17, 1998, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. Robert Sefried officiated. Burial was in Oddfellows Cemetery in McLeansboro.
Mr. Cox is survived by his wife, Michelle Cox of McLeansboro; his mother, Janet Cox of Bradley, Ill.; his father, Clyde Roland Cox; his brother, Calvin Ray Cox and wife Lana of Watseka, Illinois; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
