Verna L. Hand, 93, of McLeansboro, died at 9:55 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was a homemaker.
She was born on January 17, 1905, in Saline County, a daughter of Charles O. and Dorothea (Hale) Ryan. She was a member of Longbranch Baptist Church near Galatia and was a Gold Star Mother.
The funeral was at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, January 23, 1998, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. Robert Sefried officiated. Burial was in Oddfellows Cemetery in McLeansboro.
Mrs. Hand is survived by two sisters, Opal Dale and Melba Pemberton, both of McLeansboro; three grandchildren, Michael, Mark and Michelle; five great-grandchildren; several nephews; and one niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George W. Hand, two sons, an infant daughter and three sisters.
