Virginia L. Hardesty, 88, of Mt. Carmel and formerly of Broughton died at 12:29 P.M. on Monday, September 28, 1998, at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. She was a housewife and retired musician.
She was born on August 8, 1910, in Martin, Tennessee, a daughter of Ellis Miller and Norma Grace (Corlew) Oliver. On May 22, 1929, she married Audra Hardesty, who died in 1979. She attended the University of Tennessee and graduated from Hall-Moody Baptist College. She was a member of Broughton Baptist Church.
The funeral was at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 1998, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. Delmar Feazel officiated. Burial was in Gholson Cemetery in Broughton.
She is survived by nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation and will be accepted at the funeral home.
