Clarence Eugene Baker, 59, of Chicago and formerly of Hamilton County, died at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 8, 1999. He was employed by the City of Chicago.
He was born on February 15, 1940, in Hamilton County, a son of Ered and Thelma (Wheeler) Baker. He married Veronica Malerov, who survives. He was a member of Masonic Lodge in Chicago and was also a Shriner.
Graveside services were at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 11, 1999, at Digby Hill Cemetery near Dale. The Rev. Terry Staley and the Rev. George Tuggle officiated. Masonic rites were performed by Polk Lodge #137 of McLeansboro. Arrangements were by Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
Besides his wife, Mr. Baker is survived by his mother, Thelma Baker of McLeansboro; two daughters, Romona Phillips and husband Darrel of Schiller Park, Illinois, and Daniela Baker of Chicago; two sons, Anthony Baker and wife Marina of Jasper, Georgia, Michael Baker, at home; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Wilma Tolley of Evansville, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
