Carolyn Susanne Shay, 17, of McLeansboro, died at 5:28 p.m. on Monday, August 23, 1999, following a car accident. She was a student at Rend Lake College and worked at McDonald’s in McLeansboro.
She was born on September 4,1981, in Harrisburg a daughter of Ralph Edward and Wanda Jean (Hamilton) Shfty. She was a 1999 graduate of McLeansboro High School and a member of the Church of Christ.
The funeral was at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 26, 1999, at Harre Funeral Home. Russell McNalty officiated. Burial was in IOOF Cemetery in McLeansboro.
She is survived by her parents; two sisters, Betsy Holder and husband Mark of Jerseyville, Illinois, Brenda Shay at home; her grandmothers, Marie Hamilton and Edith Shay, both of McLeansboro; a niece, Stephanie Holder of Jerseyville; and a nephew, Dustin Holder of Jerseyville.
