Edna H. Aydt, 71, died Tuesday, September 14, 1999, after a long battle with cancer at her home. She was a homemaker.

She was born on March 23, 1928 in Traverse City, Michigan, a daughter f Louis and Gertrude (Anderson) Holstad. On September 13, 1960, she married Clyde J. Aydt in Salem. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Dahlgren, an active member of St. Ann’s Altar Society, past board president of the home extension club, past president of Dahlgren PTA and a volunteer at Beaver Creek School.

Services were at 10:00 a.m., September 17, 1999, Friday at St. John's Catholic Church in Dahlgren. The Rev. Joseph Trapp officiated. Burial was in St. John’s Cemetery in Dahlgren.

Surviving are her husband of 39 years, Clyde J.; two daughters, Donna Kreher and husband Paul of New Baden, Illinois, and Luanne Waier and husband Kenneth of McLeansboro; a son, John P. Burns and wife Karol of Marion; a brother, Louis Holstad and wife Marjory of Traverse City, Michigan; six grandchildren, Shannon Gauch of Belleville, Chris Kreher of Belleville, Bryan, Devin and Jason Waier all of McLeansboro and Kelli Burns of Bloomington; and a great-grandson, Adam Gauch of Belleville.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her stepmother, Wilhelmina Holstad.

Memorial contributions may be made at Harre Funeral Home in Dahlgren for the Hospice of Southern Illinois or the American Cancer Society.
