Fred Brockett, Jr.
Born June 18, 1938 - Died March 20, 1999

Fred Brockett, Jr., 60, of McLeansboro, died at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 22, 1999 in Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.

He was born on June 18, 1938, in Hamilton County to the late Fred Sr. and Lillie (Smith) Brockett.

He was Director of Community Support and Substance Abuse Services at Trade Industries in McLeansboro. He taught grade school for many years in McLeansboro and was an accomplished piano and vocalist.

He is survived by three sisters, Goldia Hale, Beulah Lankford and husband Don, and Lou Dean Smith, all of McLeansboro; two sisters-in-law, Buneda Brockett and Dorothy Brockett, both of McLeansboro; a brother-in-law, Cecil Phelps of Eldorado; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral was at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 1999 at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Larry Phelps officiated. Burial was in Braden Valley Cemetery near Dale.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert Brockett and Carlton Brockett, and a sister, Hazel Phelps.

Memorials to Star Church Building Fund or American Cancer Society will be accepted at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
