Grace Hicks, 96, of McLeansboro, died at 8:31 p.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 1999, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital. She was a homemaker.
She was born on August 25, 1902, in Athens, New York, a daughter of George and Mary Elizabeth (Martin) Williams. She married Freddie Hicks, who died on Aug. 13, 1972. She was a member of the First General Baptist Church in McLeansboro.
The funeral was at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 13, 1999, at Harre Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. Ken Cook officiated. Burial was in Oddfellows Cemetery in McLeansboro.
She is survived by a son, Freddie Hicks and wife Lucille of Mesa, Arizonia; three daughters, Jewell Little and husband Harold of Larkspur, Colorado, Rose Austin of McLeansboro, Elizabeth Shelton Higgs of McLeansboro; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter Ann Huffstutler, two grandsons, three great-grandsons, five brothers and one sister.
