Gladys M. Atkinson, 50, of McLeansboro, died at 3:28 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, 1999 at the Hamilton Memorial Hospital. She was a housewife.

She was born February 24, 1949, in Belle Rive, a daughter of Aaron and Thelma Marie (Casey) Cole. On March 18, 1966, she married Billie D. Atkinson who survives. She was a member of the Belle Rive Missionary Baptist Church.

Her funeral was at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 4, 1999, at the Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren. The Rev. Richard McCormick officiated and burial was in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren was in charge of all the arrangements.

Mrs. Atkinson is survived by her husband, Billie Atkinson; two sons, Freddy Dean (wife Bonnie) Atkinson and Teddy (wife Beverly) Atkinson both of McLeansboro; one daughter, Jennie Hammond of McLeansboro; one brother, Lyndell (wife Carol) Cole of Mt. Vernon; three grandchildren, Brianna, Amanda and Kyle Atkinson.
