Harley E. Essary, 82, of Dale died Thursday, December 23, 1999, at the Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro from a heart attack.
He retired as a mechanic from the Endicott Shell Station in Dale and he had worked at the Chrysler Corp. in Evansville for many years.
Harley was born on July 21, 1917 in Hamilton County to James P. and Mary Edna (Trout) Essary. On June 10, 1938, he married Pearl Irvin, who is now deceased.
He was a Protestant by faith.
Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 27, 1999 at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. C. E. Essary and Rev. Ray Essary officiated. Burial was in Hickory Hill Cemetery near Broughton.
Surviving are a daughter, Vera Ruth (husband James) Fike of Lawtey, Florida; two sons, Arthur Lee (wife Muriel) Essary of Evansville and Larry Wayne (wife Anita) Essary of Herrin; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
His wife, Pearl (Irvin); preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, and parents.
