Herschel Farris
Born August 1, 1914 - Died April 3, 1999

Herschel Farris, 84, of Hastings, Michigan, and formerly of McLeansboro, died at 9:40 a.m. on Saturday, April 3, 1999, at the Tender Care Center in Hastings, Michigan, he was a retired cable operator with Diamond Wire and Cable Company of Sycamore for 25 years.

He was born August 1, 1914, in Hamilton County, a son of Christor Columbus and Lena (Hunt) Farris. He married Avis Marie Barnett who preceded him in death. He was a member of the Woodview Christian Church in Wyoming, Michigan.

His funeral was at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. Robert Sefried officiated and burial was in the IOOF Cemetery in McLeansboro. Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro was in charge of the arrangements.

Mr. Farris is survived by one son, James Donald (wife Leila) Farris of Middleville, Michigan; two brothers, Emery Farris and Robert Farris both of McLeansboro; Ethel Huffstutler of Caseyville, Dorothy Roe of Grayville and Betty Allen of Broughton; four grandchildren, James Farris, Jr., John Farris, Edward Mings and Kathy Busse; 11 great-grandchildren and one greatgreat grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, seven brothers and three sisters.
