Hazel Hollingsworth, 87, of Urbana and formerly of New Burnside, Illinois, died at 4:56 p.m. on Sunday, May 23, 1999, at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana. She was a former telephone operator for Illinois Bell Telephone Company.
She was born on October 17, 1911, in Broughton, where she was raised, a daughter of of Alvin and Mary Ellen Cox Hardesty. She was a member of the White Street Church of Christ in Champaign. On April 28, 1983, she married Frank G. Hollingsworth in Lawrenceville, Illinois, and he died on April 27, 1983.
The funeral was at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 26, 1999, at Renner-Wikoff Funeral Chapel in Urbana. The Rev. Bryan Vinson officiated. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Urbana.
Mrs. Hollingsworth is survived by three sons, Grant Hollingsworth of Urbana, Dewey Hollingsworth of Aurora, Illinois, and Dan Hollingsworth of Paw Paw, Illinois; two daughters, Gloria Jean Cross of Champaign and Heather Vinson of Nevada, Texas; one sister, Wilma Wingerter of Evansville, Indiana; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.
