John F. Gibbs Jr., 81, of McLeansboro, died Sunday, November 21, 1999, at his home. He was a retired farmer and had worked at the former Rogers & James Feed Mill.
He was born June 4, 1918 in Hamilton County, a son of John F. and Grace (Jenkins) Gibbs. He was a member of Ten Mile Baptist Church. On April 26, 1947, he married Betty L. Todd.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Betty L. (Todd); a half brother, Koyne Osburn of New York City; two brothers-in-law, Elmo McPeak of McLeansboro and Phillip Voulgaris of Pulaski, Tennessee; six sister-in-laws, Faye Hammons of Casper, Wyoming, Betty Emerson of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Roberta Roberson (husband Leo) of McLeansboro, Dorothy Pearce (husband Thomas) of Lockport, Illinois, Eulah Walden (husband Charles) of Bethalto, Illinios, and Nonnie Osburn of Springfield, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 24, 1999 at Gholson Funeral Home McLeansboro Chapel. The Rev. Denny Steed officiated. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery near McLeansboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a half-brother Gene Osburn.
