Joseph H. Haas, 81, of Augusta, Georgia (formerly of McLeansboro) died at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16, 1999 at his home. He was a retired Highway Maintenance Worker with the Department of Transportation: State of Illinois.
He was born on January 27, 1925 in Hamilton County, a son of Conrad and Teresa (Wuebbels) Haas. He was a member of St. John The Baptist Church in Piopolis, a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII, attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Augusta, Georgia.
His funeral was at St. John The Baptist Church in Piopolis. The Rev. Joseph Lawler officiated and burial was in St. John's Cemetery with graveside military rites by American Legion Post #106. The Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro was in charge of the arrangements.
Mr. Haas is survived by one son, Michael Haas of Augusta, Georgia; two brothers, George Haas of Millstadt, John Haas of McLeansboro; five sisters, Ann Ott of Belleville, Elizabeth Rubenacker of Dahlgren, Helen Miller of Peoria, Louise Simon of Pekin, Frances Downs of Granite City; one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Antone and one infant brother.
