Larry D. Carter, 47, died Wednesday, September 15, 1999, of cancer at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was in materials management for Joy Manufacturing in Mt. Vernon.
He was born on November 22, 1951, in White County, a son of Nicolas Jacob Sr. and Alice (Garrett) Carter. On July 4, 1973, in Plano, Illinois, he married Rhoda Haberkorn, who survives. He was president of Enfield Cemetery Board and Masoic Lodge #677 of Enfield. He was Protestant.
Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Rhoda (Haberkorn); a son, Richard of Enfield; his mother, Alice Carter of Enfield; four brothers, Lloyd and wife Nancy, David and wife Barbara, and Nicholas Jr. and wife Diana, all of Carmi., and Jakie and wife Kris of Mount Vernon, Illinois; two grandchildren, Jami and Evan Carter; and nieces and nephews.
Services were at 1:00 p.m., September 18, 1999, Saturday at Harre Funeral Home McLeansboro Chapel. The Rev. Charles Mossberger officiated. Burial was in Hammack Cemetery near Springerton.
