Leon Parmer Bishop

Leon Parmer Bishop, 80, of McLeansboro, died at 4:58 a.m. on Friday, June 4, 1999, at his residence. He was a retired oilfield pumper.

He was born on August 21, 1918, in Franklin County, a son of George Parmer and Lillie (Tipple) Bishop. On December 24, 1921, he married Nina (Anderson) Bishop in St. Charles, Missouri, and she survives. He was a member of Ten Mile Baptist Church and of Coon Hunters Club of Hamilton County. He loved to go hunting, fishing or trapping.

The funeral was at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 6, 1999, at Harre Funeral Home In McLeansboro. The Rev. Mark Lee officiated. Burial was in ten Mile Cemetery near McLeansboro.

Besides his wife, Mr. Bishop is survived by three sons, David Leon Bishop of Covington, Kentucky, Dwight Clyde Bishop and wife Alisa Juanita of McLeansboro, Daniel Doyle Bishop and wife Valerie of Indianapolis, Indiana; two daughters, Sandra Lea Stelle of Indianapolis, Suzanne Marie Widick and husband Eric of Kings, Illinois; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, Farrell Monroe Bishop of Calhoun, Kentucky; two sisters, Vernon Keen of Macedonia and Vera Breese and husband Irvin of Belle Rive.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
