Mary (Angelly) Thirlaway, 79, of Broughton, died at 10:45 p.m. Thursday, September 16 , 1999 at the home of a niece, Betty (McKinnies) Phelps, north of Raleigh.
She was born October 23, 1919 in LaSalle, Missouri to Henry Angelly and Elizabeth (Bridges) Angelly. She married Robert Thirlaway in October 1943.
Mrs. Thirlaway was a secretary and bookeeper at the Thonby Paint Company in Chicago and the Gunerson Construction Company. She was a World War II veteran.
The body was cremated. Memorial services were at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 20, 1999. Burial was in Hickory Hill cemetery near Broughton. The Rev. Carl "Dink" Phelps and Rev. David Angelly officiated. Military rites were by American Legion Post #106 of McLeansboro.
She is survived by four nieces, Betty and her husband Paul Phelps, Melissa, Wanda and Lora of Harrisburg; three nephews Steve McKinnies and his wife Debbie and their son Jay, Glendal Taylor and David Angelly; and several great-nephews and great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Memorials may be made to TIP Hospice of Southern Illinois.
Sloan Funeral Home of Galatia was in charge of the services.
