Mary Virginia Carter, 81, of Ft. Worth, Texas, and formerly of McLeansboro died at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday August 22, 1999, at the Hospice Care Center in Ft. Worth. She was a lifelong educator and began teaching in a one-room rural school and retired as an elementary school principal.
She was born on March 23, 1918, in Hamilton County, a daughter of Thomas and Addie (Proctor) Snyder She was a member of Pleasant Union Congregational Christian Church near Blairsville and taught many years for the U. S. military post schools.
The funeral was at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25, 1999, at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel in Ft. Worth. Burial was in Laurel Land Memorial Park Cemetery
Mrs. Carter is survived by her husband, James Carter; one daughter, Judy Ann Cureton and husband Bob of Ft. Worth; one sister-in-jaw, Lela Snyder of McLeansboro; and one grandchild, Jenny Lyn Cureton of Ft. Worth.
