Norah Alice Barker
Born April 5, 1905 - Died March 19, 1999

Norah Alice Barker, 93, of Litchfield, Illinois, and formerly of Dale, died 3:18 a.m. on Friday, March 19, 1999, in Heritage Manor of Litchfield. She was store manager for the Salvation Army from 1954 until her retirement in 1971. She managed stores in Chicago, Springfield and Decatur, Indianapolis, Indiana, and St. Louis, Missouri. Upon her retirement in 1971, she made her home in Litchfield.

She was born on April 5, 1905, in Dale, a daughter of John Wesley and Edith (Jennings) Tucker. On January 2, 1929, in McLeansboro, she married Loomis McKinley Barker, who died in November 25, 1946. She was a member of Dale United Methodist Church in Dale. She was also a member of the Ruthean Class and Martha Circle at the St. Timothy United Methodist Church in Litchfleld.

The funeral was at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 22, 1999, at Dale United Methodist Church in Dale. Burial was in Digby Hill Cemetery in Dale. Obolson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Barker is survived by one daughter, Barbara C. Tolley and husband Bill of Litchfleld; one brother 0scar W. Tucker of McLeansboro; three grandchildren, Carolyn Nimmons and husband Howard of Florrisant Missoouri, Loralea Liss and husband David, Teresa Hocking and husband John, all of Champaign; and four great-grandchildren, Joseph Nimmons of St. Louis, Matthew Nimmons of Columbia, Missouri, Lauren and Elise Hocking of Champaign.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Carl D. John W., James T., R. Challey and William D. Tucker; and three sisters, Georgia E. Hunt, Deborah A. Beachum and Frankie Jo Tucker.
