Phyllis Jean Brake, 47, died Saturday, September 18, 1999, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital of an apparent heart attack. She was a teller at People’s National Bank in Dahlgren.
She was born on January 19, 1952, in McLeansboro, a daughter of Dale and Jean (Clark) Savage. On November 27, 1970, in Dahlgren, she married David B. Brake, who survives. She was an active member of the Dahlgren Missionary Baptist Church, serving many years as church treasurer and Sunday school teacher.
Services were at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 20, 1999, at Dahlgren Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. John Asby and the Rev. Joe Nogalski officiated. Burial was in Middle Creek Cemetery. Harre Funeral Home of Dahlgren was in charge of the arrangements.
Surviving are her husband of 28 years, David B.; two sons, Benjamin B. and Timothy D., both at home; her parents, Dale and Jean (Clark) Savage of McLeansboro; a sister, Connie Allen and husband John of Lyman, South Carolina; a brother, Terry Savage and wife Linda of McLeansboro; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Chester and Madonna Brake of Dahlgren; and a niece and four nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Dahlgren Missionary Baptist Church's building fund.
