Rella R. Cornelius, 76, of McLeansboro, died at 8:50 a.m. on Monday, March 22,1999, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was a housewife.
She was born on October 31, 1922 in Hamilton County, a daughter of James M. and Winnie F. (Upton) McGehee. She was married to James Emanuel Smith, who preceded her in death, and later married Herbert Cornelius, who survives.
The funeral was at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 1999, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. Robert Sefried officiated. Burial was in the Old Springer Cemetery near McLeansboro.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Cornelius is survived by her husband Herbert of McLcansboro; one stepson, Richard Cornelius and wife Paula of Nashville, Illinois; two grandchildren, Scotty Webb and wife Cherri of Dahlgren, Lisa Russell and husband Scott of McLeansboro; two great-grandchildren, Justin and Brandon Webb of Dahlgren; one brother, Harold “Sandy” McGehee and wife Dorothy of Evansville, Indiana; two sisters, Maxine Owen of Henderson, Kentucky, and Louise Shaw of Fairfield.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, son Darrel, one brother and three sisters.
