Vivian Cross, 82, of Dahlgren, died at 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 1999, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. She was a retired elementary teacher having serves in Dahlgren and Unit 10 District schools from 1936 to 1991.

She was born on December 17, 1916, in Hamilton County, a daughter of Gordon and Bessle (Learned) Duncan. She married Adron Cross, who died in 1970. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dahlgren, Illinois Retired Teacher Association; Eastern Star, secretary/treasurer of Richardson Hill Cemetery Association and current Dahlgren Village Clerk.

The funeral was at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, 1999, at the First Baptist Church in Dahlgren. The Rev. Joe Nogaiski and Rev. Ron Trotter officiated. Burial was in Middle Creek Cemetery near Dahlgren. Gholson Funeral Home of Dahlgren was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Cross is survived by two stepsons, Gene Cross and wife lane of Wyoming, Illinois, and Joe Cross three stepdaughters, Kay Eastman and husband Don of Forest, Virginia, Martha McLaren and husband Dick of Canton, Illinois, Mary Gutfreund and husband Martin of Bradenton, Florida; one brother, George Duncan and wife Iris or Belle Rive; two sisters, Rachel Duncan of Dahlgren and Letitia McNeal and husband Walter of Holland, Michigan; one sister-in-law, Emma Fritzi Duncan of Norfolk, Virginia; three nieces, Janet Isaac of Farwell, Michigan, Suzanne Sal of Hamilton, Michigan, and Sharon Gowler of Mt. Vernon; two neFhews, Steven MeNeal of Holland, Michigan, and David MeNeal of Fennville, Michigan; several step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one niece.
