Viola Irene Dorney, 63, of McLeansboro, died at 9:57 p.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 1999, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was a homemaker.
She was born on March 10, 1935, in Lawrenceville, Illinois, a daughter of Jesse Evelyn (Griffith) Dorney. She was a member of Monticello Methodist Church.
The funeral was at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 13, 1999, at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. The Rev. Robert Sefried officiated. Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery near McLeansboro.
She is survived by four brothers, Eugene Dorney of Mt. Carmel, Ezra Dale Dorney of Keensburg, Stanley Dorney of Mason, Illinois, John Dorney of McLean sboro; two stepbrothers, Robert Jackson of Clairmont, Illinois, Leroy Jackson of Sumner, Illinois; four half-sisters, Della Riley and Rose Riley, both of McLeansboro, Stella Brian and Alberta Brian, both of Sumner; and several nieces and nephews.
