Wilbert J. “Bill” Fleckenstein, 83, died at 1:41 p.m. on Sunday, October 24, 1999, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois.
He was a truck driver and heavy equipment operator and truck driver plus had worked construction and had worked for Jerome Aydt Services in Dahlgren.
He was born on October 11, 1916 in Jefferson County, a son of Joseph and Barbara (Kiefer) Fleckenstein. On October 11, 1942 he married Julia Bakuzones at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri, who survives.
He was a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.
He was a member of the St. John Catholic Church in Dahlgren.
Surviving are his wife, a sister, Loretta Fleckenstein of Mount Vernon; a brother, Raymond Fleckenstein and wife Oatie of Dahlgren; and a niece and nephew.
Funeral services was at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 27, 1999 at St. John Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Frances Fleckenstein and one sister, Mary Ann Fleckenstein.
