Alfred L. Hook

Alfred L. Hook, 92, of McLeansboro died Tuesday, March 7, 2000, at White County Medical Center in Carmi.

He had been a farmer and had worked at Wood River, Illinois, at the Shell Refinery.

He was born on January 29, 1908 in Hamilton County, a son of Levi and Elizabeth (Bond) Hook. On January 15, 1927 he married Alta Mae (Emerson) Hook and she survives.

He was a member of the Blooming Grove Baptist Church and Hamilton County Farm Bureau.

Surviving are his wife, Alta M.; four sons, Everett of Buchanan, Tennessee, Eugene S. and Virgil Dean, both of Godrey and Buddy Joseph of Terry, Mississippi; two sisters, Lena Doris Orr of McLeansboro and Lucy Johnson of Terre Haute, Indiana; a brother, Eli of McLeansboro; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2000 at Blooming Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Gary Davenport officated. Burial was in Blooming Grove Cemetery near McLeansboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Wilburn Hook, two grandchildren, and one great-greatgrandchild.
