Rev. Alvie O. Daily, 94, of McLeansboro, died Wednesday, February 16, 2000, at Harrisburg Medical Center in Harrisburg.
He was a retired General Baptist minister, serving the Southern Illinois and Peoria areas for 59 years. He also served as associational minister for the Big Saline Baptist Association.
He was born on August 11, 1905, in Hamilton County, Illinois to Zeffy Robert (Z.B.) and Lila Mae (Holland) Daily. On June 29, 1929 he married Bertie Lee (Whiting) Daily in Carmi. They were very close to one another and spent their entire married life working for the Lord. She passied away on May 9, 1987.
He was a member of Blooming Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Norma Vaughn of Glasford; a son, Marion A. of Harrisburg; a sister, Elvie Wiggins of Veedersburg, Ind.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 19, 2000 at Gholson Funeral Home McLeansboro Chapel. Rev. Robert Sefried and Scott Webb officiated. Burial was in Blooming Grove Cemetery near McLeansboro.
He was pastor for eighteen Southern Baptist Churches and he also served as associational missionary in Big Saline Association from October 1963 until August 1966. He served as interim pastor of six churches in the Metro Peoria Baptist Association and supplied for nineteen churches of that association. Also, he and his wife, Birdie Lee held 42 Vacation Bible Schools.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and three sisters.
