Estella F. (Clark) Stewart
Died September 15, 2000

Estella F. (Clark) Stewart, 98, of McLeansboro, died Friday, September 15, 2000, at the home of her daughter, Jo Ann Johnson of Peoria.

She had been a Sunday school teacher at Smith Chapel Baptist Church in McLeansboro, was a Gold Star mother and member of the Northwest Baptist Church in Peoria.

Also surviving are three daughters, Doris Summers of McLeansboro, Patsy Lea Schenck of Biloxi, Mississippi, and Mary Sue McDonald of Seguin, Texas; a stepdaughter, Lilly J. Jones of Wood River; four sons, Donald Hammontree of Daytona, Florida, James R. Johnson of Chillicothe, Illinois, and Alfred L. and Val G. Johnson, both of McLeansboro; a stepson, Warren G. Johnson of Wood River; a brother, James E. Clark of Santa Ana, California; two sisters, Harriet Emerson of Enfield and Sylvia R. Rankin of Evansville; 32 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four husbands, Thomas M. Hammontree, Herman Johnson, Perry Pasley and Clyde L. Stewart; three sons, Herman Johnson Jr. and Thomas A. and Charles I. Hammontree; and three stepsons, Mitchell, Paul and Ross Johnson.

Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 18, 2000 at Harre Funeral Home. Burial was in Concord Cemetery.
